I am showing signs of future shock and so have made the decision to join no new social media (no Twitter, Dreamwidth, or Tumblr, for example). The changes in technology and the added layers of things I have to learn are wearing on me. I still can't download pictures from my camera to my computer and then load them to a data stick to go get prints

Technology overload is a real condition. I burned out around the middle of the iPod® era when even owning a Mac started to become too complicated. I'm one of the last people I know who does not carry a portable phone at all. Everybody I know e-mails and the only time I'd ever need one is while traveling, which of course has diminished due to my personal economy. So don't look at it as falling behind. Think of it as a means of saving money and frustration.
