Well, not so much.

I did go to graduate school with one of the 2008 National Book Awards Finalists, though. I'm happy for him, but now need to go off and ponder my life of underachievement.

He deserves this award. Don't beat yourself up though. His life is one I do not envy. And your stories are gorgeous. It's time to set them down, work them out and sent them off into the world my dear.
And heck, not only did I go to graduate school with a nominee but I also worked with many of the judges. Talk about being an underachiever--I feel like a complete loser.
