> As to what ever became of Zeke, that I don’t know. From Dad’s version one day he just never showed up any more. Maybe he died, maybe he moved away.

Or maybe one of the rattlers got him. :-)

Great story. Keep 'em coming.

Msybe they did. The confidence born of familiarity can all too easily become recklessness and all that.

These are like a western-Penn version of "Prairie Home Companion"!

Thanks for the praise, but Bethlehem is actually in Eastern Pennsylvania, just an hour or so from the Jersey state line.

Sorry, I wasn't paying attention! Since I like you, I locate everything to do with you in the *good* half of Pennsylvania. (j/k, ;) and all the usual disclaimers to avoid offending folks from eastern PA)

No worries, no offense.

I think I would rather live in the western half of the state myself; the eastern half these days in increasingly becoming a stopover for all the hoods running their drugs from NYC to Philly and back, and there's practically no untouched open country left -- it's all strip malls and housing developments.

You might want to call the steel mill stories "Tales from the Ingot Mold".

And if some of your dad's stories about the mill don't mention a name, call him "Joe" after Joe Mazaryk.
