I hope my brother likes it

I ordered this film (mainly for my brother, who saw it decades ago) and it just came in. Here's hoping he enjoys it.

Though the Tsuburaya SFX look good!

It's amazing what Toho Studios was doing back in 1959.

...now I want to watch it, too! ;)

An outfit called Media Blasters is doing a lot of classic Toho SF. I've got Space Amoeba AKA Yog, Monster from Space, Atragon, and Varan the Unbelievable.

I'm still looking for Matango: Fungus of Terror, Frankenstein Conquers the World, Dogora, and Latitude Zero (Cesar Romero, his girlfriend-turned-griffon, and an army of Bat-men try to conquer the world. Just plain bizarre).

Not only do the SFX look impressive for a half-century ago, the colour is gorgeous! Please post a review after you watch it.

I'm also impressed by the matte work and background paintings for the alien base. That was all done on a tiny soundstage, but it looks gigantic!

They did similar work with Atragon, in the scenes set in Mu.

And my brother nearly squealed for joy when I told him about this (and him in his 50's!), so I think it'll go over well.

It's always a great day when you can find an old treasure for someone close to you. :)

True. He was similarly happy when I found DVD copies of Beast from 20,000 Fathoms and Rodan (the first kaiju film he ever saw, when he was about seven or so).
