I do not judge, I do but report, but man oh man this is strange.

That said, I call dibs on the Contessa from Animalympics. :D

EDIT: And how do you like this quote from the article?

Japan's fans of comic books, or "manga," sometimes go to extremes ( Read more... )

Never heard of them. Who or what are they?

Otherkin + Otaku = Otakukin

They are people who feel that manga, anime and video game characters actually exist in parallel worlds or historically. So the stories about them are reflections of their world into ours.

They furthermore feel that they have the souls of said characters. They might feel they are the reincarnation of them, or that they have a parallel or inner existence as them.

Examples include people who think they were/are Cloud Strife in a former or alternate existence. One person I heard of even claimed to be the reincarnation of Simon Belmont.

Seriously.

Ooooh-kayyy...

I just hope there's no one out there who sees themselves as an incarnation of the characters from Legend of the Overfiend.

Wow...

I know I have a little (healthy) obsession with L from Death Note but...that's just so freaky to the extreme O.O;;

I liked the airhead blond myself.

And if you want to scour your mind, remember, nothing works so well as a cheese grater applied to the skull with great vigor. Once you start seeing gray stuff mixed in with the blood and shards of bone -- you're doing it right!

Experiment. Eventually you'll either find one you like or it just won't matter any more...

*facepalm*

All I can say is that something like this had not come here. If so, I can see it now that some furries will marry their own or other characters.

The first human-cartoon wedding doesn't boggle my mind so much as the first divorce.

Just wait until ZigZag or Chethter end up on Bigamy/Polygamy charges.

Hey, Ken, if this passes, can I propose to Brigit or Khrysha? :D

I think Shatner actually summed it up with the phrase "get a life".

These people don't just need to get a life, they need to have the term defined first.
