Thank God that my mom "caught" hers early, and it didn't spread. She responded so well to treatment that 9 months later she was able to fly out to drive cross country with me on the way to my first duty station.

I know your pain. Lost my dad first then four years later my mom to cancer. People who have never experienced the loss of a close family member or friend to cancer have absolutely no idea. And in the back of my mind I wonder if that fate awaits me.
