Randy grabbed his own phone off the table next to their bed and flipped it open. He looked over a John then dialed the number.
“Hey, Randy,” his dad’s voice said through the phone, “it’s been a while since you called. What’s the occasion?”
“Hi Dad. Sorry it’s been so long, I know I need to call more often. Well, is Mom around? I’d like to tell her, too.”
“Big news, then, eh? Hold on.” Randy heard his dad shout for his mum, “She’s on her way downstairs. So, how have you been?”
“Good, really good, actually. How are you and Mom doing?”
“We’re doing alright. Ok, your mother’s here. What’s the big news?”
This time, John was the one that took Randy’s hand before he broke the news to his parents. “Well, uhh, I’m engaged.”
There was a silence over the phone, but soon enough, Randy heard his mother’s voice, “Randy, that’s wonderful news. But, if it’s with John, how are you actually getting married?”
“We’re also kinda moving to Massachusetts.”
“‘Kinda moving?’” his mother repeated.
“Ok, we’re moving to Mass. Back to John’s hometown. And, we’re also thinking of having the ceremony in John’s parent’s backyard.”
“That sounds lovely. Doesn’t it sound lovely, Bob?” His father grumbled something like “Yeah, sure, lovely.”
“His mom already agreed to it. So, we’re thinking of an October wedding. We also want it to be small, with just family and maybe some good friends. John’s having a hell of a time deciding who should be his best man, though.”
“Doesn’t he have a brother that can do that?”
“Four. He says he’s gonna feel bad picking just one. And, well, since I’m his only friend- OW!”
“What is it? Are you ok?” His mother’s worried voice said over the phone.
“I’m fine. John just punched me, don’t worry about it.”
“If you say so. Now, what are you doing about your best man?”
“I was hoping Nate would do it… Can I have a maid of honor?” John started laughing, so Randy gave him a punch of his own, and his mother was silent. “Mom?”
“Well… I can’t say that’s the most traditional route to go, with the husband having a maid of honor and a best man. I’m assuming you want Becky.”
“Yeah, I figured it’d only be right. And, besides, I’m already marrying John, it’s not like it’s the most traditional wedding of all time to begin with.”
“You have a point there. Bob, do you think Randy can have a maid of honor?”
“I don’t see why not. Here, let me talk to him. Randy, it’s your wedding; you do whatever the hell you want. Who’s paying for this thing, anyway? It’s usually the bride’s family, am I right?”
“We hadn’t actually thought of that. John, who is gonna pay for this?”
John answered, “Maybe we could split the difference. Unless we just pay for it all ourselves.”
“No, we couldn’t let you do that. Not that you couldn’t afford it, but I think we, the families, should pay for it. Only seems right.”
“Thanks, Dad. Well, I’ll say goodnight for now, I’ll make sure to call you guys more often. I’ll be calling plenty with wedding plans, anyway. I’m sure you guys’ll be sick of me by the time it’s all over.”
“Never, we don’t see you enough. I’m happy for you, Rand.”
“Thanks Dad.”
“Bye. Here’s your mother.”
“Bye Dad.”
“Goodnight, Randy. You better make good on that promise of yours to call more often. You got that?”
“I will, Mom, I swear. Night.”
“Love you, hun.”
“Love you, too, Mom. Night.” Randy flipped his phone shut and placed it back on the table.
“See, that wasn’t too bad. We even got someone to pay for this whole ordeal.”
“That went well.” Randy looked back over at John and then burst out laughing, falling back onto the bed.
“What?”
“We’re fucking getting married. Can you believe it? Us, getting married! Holy shit.”
John smiled and rolled on top of Randy. “I know. I’m pretty amazed myself. We’ll have to play Train in Vain at the wedding, it’s become our song.”
“What an odd song to play at a wedding.” Randy wrapped his arms and legs around John, snuggling him close.
John wiggled around inside the grip, finally managing to turn himself around so his back was pressed against Randy’s front. “It could be our first dance.”
“That would be interesting.”
“Would you rather have something more traditional for our first song? Can’t Help Falling in Love, maybe?”
“That’s a beautiful song. I was thinking Elvis, just not that one.”
“Oh, yeah?” John asked, scooting back even more so he could feel Randy’s hard cock against his ass. He took Randy’s hand and placed it on his jean-clad crotch. “What one?”
Randy began to rub his hand over it, then undid the button and zipped down the fly. He reached into John’s boxers and began to stroke it. “The Wonder of You.”
“That’s a good one.”
“I know. This is our first discussion of Elvis music since we got engaged. And that was my first phone call while engaged.” Randy let his thumb circle around the head of John’s cock. He began to nibble on John’s ear, lick around the shell, bite on the ear lobe and tug slightly.
“God, you’re so strange.” John rolled himself over, so that once again they were face to face. He had Randy’s fly down in a snap and freed Randy from his constraints. John stroked Randy while Randy worked on him. They matched each other’s pace, when one of them stopped to tease the other, their motions would stop before returning the favour.
John continued to stroke Randy when he leaned in to kiss him. Randy kissed him back, letting their tongues meet and tangle with each other. Randy pulled back, the need for air strong. “So close.”
“Me too.” They both quickened the pace, but still managed to stay timed with one another.
They pulled and stroked each other more, and then both were coming. “Mmm,” Randy said after his release. He kissed John again, running his hand in John’s hair. “That was nice.”
“Yeah, it was.”
“So, does The Wonder of You work for our first dance? We can play The Clash some other time during the reception.”
John kissed Randy back, “Yeah, I like that song. As long as we play The Clash at some point.”
“Are any of your songs gonna play?”
“They can, if you want.”
“I think we should come into the room with My Time is Now going. We won’t tell anyone, though. Hey, if people can have the Rocky Theme, I think we can have yours.”
John kissed him again, “I think we can, too.” John arranged himself so that he was leaning back against the pillows, and Randy joined him.
“You’re getting the lights this time, I got them last night.”
“Fine,” John sighed and walked over to the light switch. “Turn one of those on, I don’t want to trip over our shit,” John said, pointing to one of the light on the bedside table.
Randy switched one on and John turned off the big light. He walked back to bed and climbed in. Once they were both settled, Randy switched the small lamp back off, “Night, John.”
“Goodnight, Randy.”
