I don't know what it is about these two that gets me writing so much...

Finally, one of John’s songs came on as I was writing this. I know at one point I said that every time I had written Cenaton, a Cena song played. Well, this is the first time it’s happened in, like, 5 fics/surveys. So, yeah, I’m happy. Haha, TWO Cena songs, looks like iTunes is making up for lacking the past couple times. FTW!

John and Randy just arrived back at their hotel after a house show when Randy said, “You know in two more days, we’ll have our first Monday Night Raw while engaged?”

“How long are you gonna do that?” John asked, thoroughly annoyed with Randy after a whole day of first this and first that while engaged. Randy had even gone so far as to tell him about his first time taking a piss while being engaged.

Randy just smiled, “Until I run out of things to say. And then, once we get married, I can start it all over again!”

“Wonderful,” John sighed.

Pinching John’s cheeks, he told him, “Yes, I’m annoying and you love me for it.”

“I do,” John agreed. Then, after pulling down the comforter, he sat down to think. “We’re gonna have to tell our families soon. And the guys in the back. I just don’t want them all to assume they’re invited. I don’t want a mass of people there. I’d be happy with just our immediate family.”

“I would be, too. But, don’t you think we should have some of the guys there?”

“Then I’d feel bad. Seems like it should be invite none or invite all.” John put his face in his hands and shook his head. Randy sat down next to him and put an arm around his shoulders.

“We still have plenty of time to figure it out. We haven’t even picked a date for the wedding yet.”

“Tell me what your perfect wedding would be like,” John said, leaning into Randy.

“Ideally I would like it to be just our families, maybe have the service be somewhere outdoors, and in the fall with all the leaves orange and red and yellow. It would be quick, nothing fancy. After that we’d have the reception at some nice little place where we could dance the night away. Open bar, of course.”

“That sounds nice, I’d like that, too. With one small change. Or, addition, rather. See, my mom always said she’d like to have at least one of her son’s weddings in her back yard.” John lifted his head up and looked at Randy, who was smiling at him.

“That sounds… beautiful. Would your mom go for it, though? It’s not like it’d be the most traditional marriage in the world.”

“I hope so. Of course, I have to actually tell her I’m getting married, first. Shit.”

Randy cocked his head, “What is it?”

“Who am I gonna have as best man? I have four brothers; I don’t think I can pick just one.”

Randy just shrugged, “Draw straws. Or, I dunno, ask.”

John looked at Randy, “Ask who’d like to be best man?”

“Why not? Maybe only one will want to be best man. The rest can be groomsmen. You should call your mom now. If you do it now, it won’t be too late.”

John glanced at his bag containing his cell phone. He sighed, then stood up to grab the bag. He pulled the phone out of the side pocket, flipped it open, and dialed the number to his parent’s house. “Here goes nothing.”

“Hello?” His mother’s voice was reassuring.

“Hi, Mom, it’s John.”

“Johnny!” He could hear the smile in her voice. “How are you, sweetie? It’s been far too long since you called me.”

“I know, I’m sorry. I’m doing very well, thank you. How are you and Dad?”

“We’re just fine. How’s Randy?”

John looked over to Randy and mouthed, “She’s asking about you,” to him. “He’s great. We actually have some news for you. Is, uh, is Dad around?”

“Yeah, he’s right here. We were just getting ready for bed.” He could hear his mother call John Sr. over to her. “Ok, he’s here. What is it you need to tell us?”

Randy took John’s hand as he began to tell his mother, “Well, umm, we’re, well, yesterday I kinda, umm, I proposed. We’re getting married.”

“Married?! Oh, sweetie, I’m so happy for you! But, wait, I didn’t think you could-”

“That’s the other thing. We’re gonna move back to Mass.”

“That’s wonderful news! Did you hear that, John? Johnny and Randy are moving back here! Your father approves, and says it’s about damn time that you come home.”

“I’m looking forward to going back. So, Mom, we were talking about what we’re gonna do for the wedding, and we, well, I was hoping that, maybe, you’d still like to have that backyard wedding?” John asked, nervous that his mother might turn down his request.

“Of course!” she yelled without hesitation. “I would love to have your wedding in the back yard. Will there be a lot of people attending?”

“We don’t really know yet. We talked about it, and both really like the idea of just having our families, but thought it would be nice to invite some of the other guys, but I thought it might be rude to invite just a few. So, we don’t know.”

“Invite who you want to. If you don’t want to invite someone, don’t. Trust me on that one, your father and I invited everyone our parents wanted us to, and there were so many people, it was not a good time. If you want a small wedding, well, that’s fine by me. Has Randy told his family the news yet?”

“No, not yet. I think he’s gonna call them after I’m done here, right? Yeah, he’s nodding.”

“Isn’t it a little late to be calling after this?”

“Remember, his folks are in MO, they’re an hour behind you guys.”

“That’s right. I always forget about time zones.”

“I know how that goes. Randy and I are always asking each other what time it is whenever we fly off somewhere.” There was a silence over the phone for a little while, but John soon spoke up, “Mom?”

“Yes?”

“Who should I have as my best man?” Randy and his mum laughed, John just punched Randy’s arm.

“Johnny, I can’t pick your best man for you. Do you want it to be one of your brothers?”

“I don’t know. I mean, yeah, I do, I would love one of them to be my best man, but I don’t want to decide. I could just start with Steve, but then the rest of the might feel left out. God, I don’t know.”

“Stop stressing about it, honey. I’m sure the others will understand. They might not even want to be best man.”

“Thanks, Mom. Well, I should let you get your sleep.

“Ok, I’ll talk to you later. I’m very happy for you and Randy. I love you, Johnny.”

“I love you, too, Mom. Tell Dad I say I love him.”

John could hear his mother telling his father that he loved him, and he heard him say he loves him, as well. “He says he loves you, as well.”

“Ok, night, Mom.”

“Bye, sweetie.”

And, with that, they hung up. John sat down again and turned to Randy. “Your turn.”

This may or may not be continued tomorrow. Or later today, I guess, technicially. I'm sure I'll write Randy's phone conversation at some point. I just got sleepy and stopped there. It seemed to work, so, yeah... Maybe, we'll see what happens.
