Etiquette question. If you link sites, do you ask the site owner first?
I don't as it's doing them a favor, increasing their traffic in most cases, but it depends on the site I suppose. Since it's a case of ' free advertising ' when I link, no I don't.
To put picture on page--replace the [ ] brackets with < >HTML brackets and the URL with your pic URL
I'm hardly technically-inclined so I hope this makes sense: I only discovered how to do what I did by accident but holler if this sounds hazy. I uploaded all my Feanorian/Tolkien pics to my photobucket account, then below each picture in photobucket there's like a fold area with 4 items--I copy the third item (html code) and paste it onto the LJ Comments box. And presto...there you go. Though I'm sure other people will have better ideas on how to do it. ;-D
As for the website question, I usually don't ask for permission to link the site but I do include as much background info as I could about the nature/content/owner of the site in my posts. And I really should go to bed now.
You won't believe this but about 2 weeks ago I got this book in the mail that I had ordered by Josh Lanyon: http://www.joshlanyon.com/man_oh_man.html. It's really a good guide and has excerpts from his stories in it!
I dont ask the owner first--the link has all the info to the owner's site with it.
