It is weird that everyone is talking about this District 9 movie and I know nothing about it. That said, from what I know, I'm not that intrigued, but that is just me.

You know my feelings on True Blood :) It seems to be in line with what a few other people have commented as well. It is one of thsoe shows where you just have to try it and see.

I think it's because of the fact that it was made a no-name and all the actors were no-names and then Peter Jackson was backing it and then it became a hit. Going into it, I actuall had no idea what it was about besides the fact that aliens were in. However, I did love it.

Yup, I think I'm going to check out the pilot at least and then go from there. If anything, I have Veronica Mars which I really want to see.

Despite feeling literally ill during my screening of District 9 due to motion sickness, it really was a fantastic film. The two things I loved the most were Wikus' transformation from douchebag to sympathetic character and how they humanized the Prawns, even though they are some of the least human-like aliens I've ever seen. I loved seeing a science fiction film with excellent character development. It's been a good year for sci-fi movies!

I think we definitely enjoyed the same things with this film. I was afraid of motion sickness but I was surprised at how tame I seemed to be during this film. It didn't really bother me.

Forgive me, but I didn't enjoy District 9 as much as you did. There were certain things I liked, such as aliens finally being depicted as something other than the destroying invaders or the wise others who treat humanity like babies, and Christopher's son. Personally, I just think the whole thing suffered from a little too much logic!fail. I mean, I know Christopher's son is smart and all, but the Prawns hung around for twenty years waiting for some kid to use a single vial of liquid to power all their tech and remote control the supposedly broken mothership? And the dude was awaiting trial for exposing the horrific experiments being done on the Prawns? If this is the reaction, if the majority public opinion is so very against the Prawns that someone would be put on public trial for exposing the horrible things done to them, then why even bother to keep those experiments a secret in the first place?

However, all I can hope for is that we act nothing like the humans depicted in this film.Unfortunately, this is the end message my ( ... )

No need for me to forgive you! We all have our different opinions. I don't think there was much illogical business with Christopher's son using the fluid to save the day and everything. It made a whole lot of sense to me and I didn't view it as anti-climactic or anything. I don't think they just 'hung around' - as Christopher mentioned, it took them twenty years to gather the fluid so they had been working the entire time.

I was pretty confused by him awaiting trial, though, I agree. :|

That's the sad thing about it. Humans are immoral - we make mistakes and we definitely don't go about things like we should. I like the reality of this film because, unfortunately, some of humans might actually react to aliens like that one day but it is a sad thing to realize.

My thing about them sticking around is the fact that they stuck around for three months before humans attempted to get in the ship. Three months. Now, the movie gives us what they want us to believe is a viable explanation, that supposedly all the commanding officers or the higher class of the Prawn society were killed off and the ones that remained were the worker class incapable of doing anything on their own. This would certainly explain why they sat there for three months without fixing their ship, when there must have been plenty of the fluid on the mothership ( ... )

District 9 was TOTALLY AMAZING. I am not sure if I can see it again, it was so intense D: D: Ahhh. ALSO GROSSNESS :(

True Blood is...interesting. It's certainly a better take on vampires than Twilight XD. Plus they're in THE SOUTH. And well...there is this character Lafayette who is a gay short-order cook and he is AMAZING AND SASSY.

ALSO I AM WATCHING VERONICA MARS TOO!! It was just loaned to me :D

I don't know if I could see it again anytime soon but it was an amazing film the first time around.

THE SOUTH. YOU KNOW THAT'S ALWAYS AWESOME. I have a friend who really loves Lafayette so if I do watch it, I'm definitely expecting to love him.

WHOO. I haven't started yet but I can't wait to. KBell is amazing and the premise sounds fantastic too.
