LJ'S NEWS POSTSUP has already "taken over" the Russian part of LJ last year, and just in case you should wonder why this is a bad thing: the head honcho of SUP is a very good buddy of Mr. Putin. Russian LJ users have complained for a while about disrespect for their privacy and censorship

Agreed, it wasn't really a surprise. I admit I was surprised about the sale to SUP, though. Should have seen that coming, if I look back now. All the signs were up. *sigh*

I think those concerns are very well-founded, another reason why this whole thing upsets me so much! I could seriously kick everybody posting along the lines of "LOL who carz Im not Russian LOL".

How about moving to Insane Journal or Wordpress? Wouldn't that be an option?

No, not good in the least. On the plus side, I've set up home on wordpress now (I'll post the url soon). I'm not very fond of the concept of wordpress, though, I'm more a "community" person, but I want to have a place I can go to if this here becomes really bad. Joyful Molly and Emma Collingwood will returned to "free account" as soon as they run out. That's the least I can do.

Phew! So good to hear that I'm not the only one who couldn't care less about Brad, and even less about his involvment with this "board". Brad is a techie, I have to work with 20 Brads every day. Give them a shiny new tool or an interesting implementation to play with, and they are happy. Just never let them say anything in public.

I blame him and I don't like him. As far as I'm concerned, they can send him to do load tests and performance engineering in Siberia.

We can always leave, but it's a shame that the community is broken up like that. Changed interests, busy real life, loss of interest - I can understand all those things. But sheer stupidity by the management? Shouldn't be surprised, though... it's sad. :-/
