if you are afraid that one of your "friends" has been so überdoof as to provide frienditto with his/her username and password and thereby making your friend locked entries visible, you can be helped. while you can't find out who the goof was, you can now see on this LJ if entries from your LJ have been up on frienditto ( Read more... )

Indeed.

They are in effect....FrienDILDOs. Wanna be wankers who can't get it up themselves to they have to hand the tools to others to fuck themselves and sit back and watch the fun.

....thanks for the site by the way.

*MWAH* for your work in reporting all this.

Do I have this backwards? I thought if you saw anyone from your flist in the ditto cops list that meant that they had joined? Like I saw a comm I belong to on that list, so I thought that comm was suspect now....or is it that someone else posted that comm entry? *is confused*

no. you can't tell who joined - that's the crux of the whole thing. if I joined and posted the friend-locked entries of my friends, nobody would ever know. what ditto_cop lists are the names of the "victims" - some dumbo individuals have submitted entries of these LJ's and communities.

okay, that makes sense now...

So basically, if I copied a friends locked entry and posted it to a yahoo list, it would be the same thing, essentially.

And there was no need for me to unfriend that community, since they didn't join, it was someone else posting that comm entry to frienditto....

*thinks she has it!*

From what I have read you the posts are annonymous...which is what really pisses me off. That is what makes it insidious. If you could at least see who posted then you can take them off your flist.

BUT this only shows you WHOSE lj was linked...so you know it has happened to you and therefore you can then start eyeballing your flist and thinking about more carefully about what you post.

...that is my understanding of it.

It is sad to know there is such foolish people to do such that to someone else. *shakes head and huggles* I just hope to not find anyone of my list there, it would be awful their posts to be exposed!
*huggles tightly*

...I almost wish I had enough of a life to be worried about this "FriendDitto" thing.

I mean, I'm upset for all my friends who are being "dittoed" against their will, but I have never in all my time working with LJ ever locked any posts (mainly because I don't know how, but a lot because I just don't wanna be bothered with that), and if, for some reason I can't fathom, I manage to post something about my life that the rest of humanity would find entertaining? Well, then, more power to everyone. ^_^

But, still... good luck for those of you who have something to be upset about. I don't, and I can't tell if that's good or just down right pathetic.

XOXO

I'm not upset so much about the posts - hell, I would never post anything online that could not see the light of the public.

first, people where tricked: it was nowhere stated that the archived posts would be visible to the public. this is an ethical matter. frienditto provided a service where people could expose other people, making them free targets for mockery, without having to stick to it. all anonymously. and this, despite what the creators claim, was the main purpose of this whole thing: to cause more drama and trouble to have something to laugh about.

and this does, indeed, disgust me.
