deleterius, proud canon nazis

Jan 20, 2005 18:33

so far, I was mostly amused by deleterius, the self-declared "canon nazis" (though, quite honestly, anybody who refers to him-/herself as "-nazi", no matter what the context may be, needs a swift kick up the backside). people who spend time on reading things they don't like are fascinating, in a way ( Read more... )

QUOTE: "Since "nazi" actually stangs for the name of the party in German, you'd think it would have worse conotations, but it's become such a common way to describe certain attitudes that it's not longer such a "hot" word."

But of course, what we really are is the Canon Gestapo."

where the hell do these people live? comparing themselves to the likes of the nazis and the gestapo?

i'm living in germany, and here both the party and their symbol are forbidden.

and to call someone nazi is being considered almost as worse as calling someone a babykilling sodomist (if not even worse). only some nutcases of the most right-winged party would call themselves nazis

and to use it that carelessly and off handedly is just unthinkable

the most disturbing is the comment about "just flipping the forked points"

as if that would make it better.

to quote einstein: both the universe and human stupidity are infinite, though i'm not yet sure about the universe.

comparing themselves to the likes of the nazis and the gestapo?

I don't know where they come from. I only hope they live far away from me.

I'm especially fond of this little gem here:

"(...) Now, flipping the forked points the other direction would make me happier, since that removes it from the Third Reich's connotations directly for those cultured enough to see the difference... (...)"

"cultured enough"? ok, let me see: they call themselves "canon nazis". the logo a swastica with the word "canon". even with "flipping the forked points..." the only connection one can make is canon + nazi. don't know what his/her understanding of culture is. but certainly not the same as mine.

cultured enough?

boy, i didn't even read that!

talk about using wrong terms. knowing something about pagan symbols doesn't mean that someone's cultured

and most people won't look twice to notice the difference

i'll make an educated guess: they'll agree that the swastica might be a little over the top and go for the ss emblem ...

people can be so shortminded and have such a short term memory

i totally agree with you, hopefully they live far far away

noch ein deutsches zitat, dass mir eingefallen ist, und hier paßt wie die faust aufs auge:

manche menschen haben einen gesichtskreis vom radius null und nennen das ihren standpunkt

gib' mir fünf, puck ;-)

oh yes, the ss emblem. they could placing it under the slogan "Spork Sues". now wouldn't that be witty and clever...

personally, I doubt that tolkien would have been too pleased seeing his work "defended" under the swastica...

That's a pretty tasteless icon. And no, I'm not just speaking as the descendant of Holocaust survivors. People should have better sense than to adopt a symbol of hate like that.

fully agree. not too long, and somebody will claim it's an "icon of pop culture".

I dare you.

I double-dog dare you. And while you're at it, make the avocados male. It could be the first ever veggie MPREG.

I was about to say that veggies couldn't get pregnant, but then neither can males so I guess I don't have a leg to stand on.

As the others said, though, avocados are a fruit, which come from flowers, and which, technically, are the genitals of a plant (think about that next time someone gives you a bouquet for your birthday!)

I guess you're on, then. But I warn you, expect some science ;)

It's green and I eat it. Fruit or veggie matters not to me, but the flowering gentital image has made the plot bunnies restless.

There is just one word for this, and that is disgusting!

I'm starting to think that the proposal to bann these symbols in all of Europe might be a good idea, as there seems to be no end to the stupidity of human beings...

especially all the idiots who repeat over and over again "but it's a symbol of love and peace in india!" of course it is. BUT NOT IN THIS CONTEXT! indeed - how stupid do they think we are.

Eww. That symbol and terminology might seem devoid of meaning to a few ignorant idiots, but that I'm sure that just isn't the case with most people. In my opinion, those responsible for that logo need to educate themselves and think again.
