Glorfindel - digital art

So, I've been teaching myself how to colour and paint in Photoshop, and for my first try I took on an old doodled sketch of Glorfindel I made back in art school. It was the closest I've ever gotten to capturing the pure personality of a character I felt I knew. Beautiful! You really put the color to work and made the figure come alive in a whole new way. The bottom of his hair looks like a field of ripe wheat -- lovely for elf hair.

Thank you. At first I couldn't get the hair right and pissed me a little bit. So I stopped for a couple days, and then the solution just came to me. I was able to finish, and it did come out pretty good. Of course I could have continued to fiddle with it for hours, but I'd rather stop than overdo it. Sometimes less is more.

I'm terribly tempted to do more, but I don't have that many sketches scanned. It's way too hard to draw from scratch on my little mouse pad. We'll see what I can do.

Now you know I've always loved this as as straight pencil sketch, so this in colour is just fab. I really like the texture across his cheekbones and under his chin (the sort of shsdow by his jawline is what I mean). And GUH, that JRM manip still makes me fall off the chair...

Glad you like. :) I have another JRM picture I badly want to manipulate... I just need to find some elfy, dark hair to put on him.
