Meh! My camera is nearly pocket-sized. I know, I know... I need not to take chances.
First reading suggested that Coopers are largely edge-of-forest hunters who sometimes like backyard bird-feeders, as they go after smaller birds. But further reading suggests it's not actually that unusual to find them in towns, so. Still! I had no idea! I knew we had peregrines and redtails and kestrels.
And it turns out it was definitely a Coopers -- sharp-shinned are apparently like the size of a robin, and this was more crow-sized or a little bigger.
