Adventures in Cooking

Under the guidance of Mom, I've been learning to cook.

A week or so ago, I made lasagna. It was easy! For the last castle party, I was the one who made Mom's Famous Bean Dip™. I've been helping with Christmas cookies.

This morning I made sausage balls, and they were wonderful. Now that I know how easy they are, I can have sausage balls any time I ( Read more... )

I'm going to be doing the same thing this vacation. I asked my mum for help and she keeps talking about biscuits and cakes and things with crushed up potato chips on top when I was thinking more along the lines of healthy food. But learning to cook is a useful thing. If it wasn't for Dolmio I probably would starve.

Sounds yummy. So what is a "biscuit" to you? I think Brits mean something different by that. A cookie? Around here, a biscuit is something you eat for breakfast.

That's cool.

Yeah, I may get some recipes from grandma before I leave. I did watch what she does for canned soup tonight though, so I s'pose it's a start. I don't really want to do fancy things.. just the usual stuff I ate here for dinners.

I'm sure my mom's lasagna is nothing like real Italian lasagna, but I thought of that when you commented. :-)

Pwah. Yeah, canned soup is better than nothing. But learning real Italian cooking from a real Italian is an experience you ought to take advantage of while you can.

Heh. I dunno... my grandma hasn't made lasagna since I've been here.. the only thing she makes from scratch on a regular basis anymore is sauce. the sauce is really good, but I doubt I'll learn that.. especially since it involves meatballs to get the flavour.. then who would eat the meatballs? :P

The canned soup tastes better thanks to extra noodles and bouillon cubes cooked for 5min before adding the soup in case you wondered and wanted to try it.

I think the only specialty food I'll attempt is cheeseballs for now. I'll be lucky if I get that down!

Cooking is one of the most enjoyable things in life, in my opinion...eating can be fun. Eating something delicious that you yourself made is even better!

Hello by the way. :) slyfoot said I should check out your journal....
