"Yeah just come in," Smoker called, frustrated with the higher and squeakier voice than the gruff low one he was used to. He didn't want to point out it was too much bother to get the door but even at his normal size he'd have just told the person knocking to just enter. Smoker was sitting on one of the futons in his office. Normally they were small enough for him that he put his feet up on the desk but now his short legs didn't reach so he was sitting cross-legged trying not to look too uncomfortable or small.

Just hearing Smoker's voice caused Lavi to ease up a little bit. Though his size wouldn't affect his attitude, it certainly affected his voice. Lavi opened the door and took a step into the office, taking a quick look around before walking towards the now younger marine and taking a the seat across from him. "So, what do you want to talk about?"

Smoker placed his head in his hands. Usually he was the one breaking rules he didn't agree with and someone was whining to him about running off to inform super officers. He cleared his throat trying to make a little gruffer. He wanted Lavi to sweat it out but the red-head didn't seem phased. "He's been a wanted pirate ever since he and Mello got here months ago. Even with Mello as the ring-leader Matt continues to help him and stand by him. There is something to be said for loyalty," Smoker tried to punctuate this with a piercing gaze but doubted it had the same emphasis right now, "But misplaced loyalties get good men killed."

Lavi had his chin resting on his palm as Smoker spoke. His face carried a blank look to it, but he was listening carefully. It almost sounded like the beginning of a speech. "Misplaced loyalties. What does that have to do with me?" He sat up straight, staring Smoker in the eyes; what he said was in fact, a serious question.
