Well, the crazy concerns about "doing something" to the Sun are in the same line of thought as those who hastened to predict the end of the Universe, once the Large Hadron Collider was switched on. Of course nothing could be further from the truth, but it still wouldnt stop some people from getting overly worked up about it, wouldnt it? (On the other hand this is an inexhaustible source of LULz!) :)
