Not bad for a weekday

I saw hockey last night! One of our friends had a couple of free tickets for the nosebleeds at the Honda Center (home of the Anaheim Ducks), so Luke and I had ourselves a random date and boy, was it a good game. (Went into overtime with the Canucks. We won ( Read more... )

Mmm, hockey. It's no secret I'm a fan. ;)

Isn't it a great game to watch in person though? Whenever I try to get someone hooked, I always try to get them to a live game just because it's such a wonderfully strategic game when you cant watch the whole thing instead of just the bits the TV cameras want you to see.

Have to admit I was totally cheering for the Canucks last night though. ;)

Random story speaking of flying pucks. My dad was a hockey person - played all through the juniors and got a scholarship to a Big Ten school to play goal. For reasons that it would take too long to explain, he didn't end up on the team, but he remained friendly with the guys and coaches. So when he met my mom (still at that Big Ten school), their second date was to a game. And she got knocked out by a flying puck.

She always has said that the hardest decision my dad ever made was to go with her in the ambulance (cause, you know, the game was stopped and all the players were checking her out up on her) instead of staying to watch the end of ( ... )

HAHAHA. Oh man, that's wonderful. Your poor mom.

There were actually quite a few Vancouver fans in the stadium Wednesday night - they managed to make themselves heard over the home fans' BOOOing every time a goal was blocked/scored. Pretty impressive. ;)

And SO MUCH word about live hockey vs. watching it televised. It's not even remotely the same! And even though both times I've been to a game we've been in the nosebleeds, I might even prefer that, just because we get an incredibly comprehensive view up there and get to watch the set-up and strategy going on everywhere. I like it. :D

Isn't sport just awesome? :D
I'm going to the final of the pre-season cup for Aussie Rules tonight, my team is playing mum's team. YAY!

I'd love to watch ice hockey. Sadly there isn't really much here

Oh how awesome, have fun! Yes, I must admit, a part of me has always been curious about certain sports, but following them just seems so overwhelming. My brother is always up-to-date on everything and he's like a walking ESPN.

How sad you guys don't have ice hockey out there! If you ever get a chance, you simply must see it! Fascinating game.
