...oh. I thought the movie looked cool. But I have also never heard of The Dark is Rising. Nate said it used to be all the rage in his elementary school but he couldn't read the book cos it was too boring for him or something.

Well. Now I have a conundrum. Do I read the book and love it and hate the movie or not read the book and love the movie? Sigh.

Ha! I say wait till after you've seen the movie to read it. That way you can thwap me if I'm being too whiny and go "it's still a good movie, f00!"

I hope it is. I'm usually not that picky with books-to-movies, but this one was so cool because it felt all isolated and in the countryside with nobody around. It was harder to tell the difference between the "past" and "present" sequences.

Anyway, haha, I found the book kinda slow when I was little too, because (as I realize now) it's actually pretty highbrow reading - really ambiguous prose, a lot of mood and not much action. But it's totally brilliant and you should read it at some point post-October in the dead of the night. That works best, I find. ;)

And bweee, I loved that 1-18-08 trailer! LOVED. It is so nutty. Totally there for The Invasion (Daniel Craig!) and Across the Universe, too.
