This morning, sitting in the waiting area of the Orlando Ballet School, it finally hit me that (as far as I can tell) there are no Caucasian students in Gillian's class. You're not alone. I am much more comfortable in my current neighborhood than my old one. Where a childhood best friend was ostracized by the adults in the neighborhood because he and his mother were not white, and were living with a white guy. My current neighborhood has whites, Hispanic, Indian, Filipino, black, you name it.

I meant to respond to your comment about me being surprised that you were 40. I thought you were younger! I don't really think about people's ages as a number, really. More in terms of people acting older than I feel, if that makes sense, or younger than I feel. So, to me, you act young, which is a fantastic thing.

I categorize people pretty much the same way. Who cares about numbers, really? It's all about how people act. I think some people have an "age" they present that stays fixed even as they get older. When I was a teenager, I was often mistaken for an adult. Once I became an adult, people aften mistook me for being younger. This is more a matter of behaving in a certain way, and having other people assign an age to that type of behavior. I've been behaving the same way for a long time.
