I'd eagerly await the arrival of the Sears Christmas Wish Book, and other catalogues, and I'd have been saving my allowance for weeks (if not months) planning on what I would buy for my family. But yeah, as far as the commercialization goes, it's been pretty bad. I'm just glad Halloween is fighting back good and strong - for a while there I was worrying that the buying season would go ahead and lap the actual date. Thanksgiving.. well, it's hard to commercialize beyond some pies and cranberry sauce, so it gets to stay a family event.
