Tree and Explorer Gone...

     I was outside, mucking out the girls' paddock when a couple of vehicles pulled into the yard.  The first was a 1/2-ton pickup truck and trailer, and the second was a sedan.  Turned out to be Dave Taylor and his son (and a friend of the son, I think) come to take care of the tree growing next to the house.  Dave makes a living clearing trees ( Read more... )

Have you built a sand berm around the well so that melt-water doesn't foul it again?

That wouldn't help in this case; The water is leaking in around the pitless-adapter, which is buried about 8 or 10 feet underground. The ground has dried up enough now that it won't be a problem again until the next time we get a huge surge in the ground-water - that could be next Spring, or it could be years later, who knows?

In either case, the only way to fix it is to excavate down to where the adapter is located on the plastic well-casing, and either replace it, or reseal it. My choice would be to replace it completely, and make sure that the new one is properly sealed.
