...I was ranting about this to a coworker recently. WHY FUCKING CHANGE THE VOICEOVER. I want Sir David!
...also I noted that a lot of the press releases/press stuff on the US showing didn't mention the BBC's involvement in the production. It was all Discovery, Discovery, Discovery! O__o
I actually bought the sets for Planet Earth and Blue Planet way back when, not noticing the names of the narrator in my giddy excitement (and also the fact that you'd have to be stupid to change the VA when you have Sir David). I'm still a somewhat pissed off from those. :/

What really? O_o I didn't watch it while it was on air here, so I never knew----what the hell? Either the Discovery marketing execs are the biggest assholes on the planet, or they somehow think that it needs to be AMERICAN to grab attention and/or make kids feel proud. If either is the case, geez, and they wonder why the world hates America! Sometimes I feel that American people outright reject good things that aren't American-made unless they can be remade American-ly, which is the saddest thing, but I'm hoping that's just what I feel.
I love listening to him. I haven't seen the full DVDs (wanna buy them so bad, but alas), only clips, but HIS VOICE. And you know, the authority and love that comes with it.
It was weird. Many of the articles I read on Frozen Planet US version seems to imply it's a sole Discovery project. No mention of the BBC collaboration. I dunno why, but it struck me as odd. Not even a mention of 'co-produced with the BBC'. Maybe Discovery does mention the co-produce links with the Beeb, but when you go read the articles/coverage, it's not there.
BBC has GREAT GREAT docus. If I were rich, I'd donate fucktons of money to the departments handling this.
If your conscience/bandwidth allows it, you can find torrents with Sir David for all of those? Since it's so hard to get the UK discs for our area. I agree, he has a GREAT voice, and you can just FEEL the love and the wonder of it all. It's amazing. Best nature docu narrator ever
