Opinions on Crosby California Prix de Nation?

Hi all! I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts/opinions on the Crosby PDN, especially the California model? I've been offered one at a decent price, and it sounds like just what I'm looking for (especially as it has fwd flaps, which I _need_), but as it's from a private seller not in my area, I can't try it out. It's about 10 years old, and looks ( Read more... )

I have two Crosby close-contact saddles (both are PDN, one has a wide tree, the other a medium, no knee rolls or blocks) that I bought used in the early 90's, and I love them. Both saddles are still in great shape, and are well balanced. I really like how there is so little between my seat/legs and the horse, but I prefer the close contact saddles over any other saddle design - I want as little leather and padding between myself and the horse as possible. They seem to hold their price well, so are a good investment imoho ( ... )

I have not owned a Crosby before but I have sat in a few of them and have really liked them. From what I've heard about them (from working in a tack shop) they're a very good saddle to invest in, well-made (I think they're more of an "old-school" quality, not like the ones that you get from India or something), and definitely retain their value well if you keep them in good shape. Good luck!

I rode in a crosby when I was in Pony Club and damn if I didn't love that saddle. I'm so sad it's not mine. I did recently buy a Crosby PDN saddle and so far I love it. I still need to have a saddle fitter come out and make sure it's good for my mare, but it's in great condition, despite having been used in a lesson program. And I got it for a fantastic price.
