theres a tack swap page on facebook that is very active. I've bought jackets, baby pads, boots and other little things successfully with no problems.

Hey,

Your mare is about the same size as the mare I recently sold. What things do you need?

Any pleasure class should be judged based on the horse's movement, quality of gaits, expression, and consistency as compared to the rest of the class and the judge's ideal. It really shouldn't matter if the rider is scowling or doing their beauty queen impression, western pleasure and hunter under saddle are all judged on the horse. Same with eye contact; I know several judges comment that they don't like it when riders make eye contact with them because they feel that the rider should really be watching what's going on in the ring instead of trying to catch the judge's attention. However, a few 'head checks' are okay in case you have to do a correction or two ( ... )

We don't have Western over here, but in Showing your turnout is so important. I'm not really that into it, but I do a bit for fun, I recently placed badly in a class because my jacket was navy, and everyone else was in tweed (More traditional). And if have any piece of tack that stick out, they really won't like it (My horse wears a grackle and a happy mouth, not the traditional double bridle with a flat noseband ( ... )

I can't comment on the show turnout issue, except to say that I don't 100% follow the dressage penguin look.

On turnout-turnout, Feronia goes out in boots in the winter when she has borium studs on her shoes. Her boots are standard Woof Wear neoprene but I would use something else if she needed turnout boots in the summer.
