I have a mare who has a boyfriend gelding in the pasture. They will call to each other if out of sight but when working she is generally fine. I find that some separation tends to help, I will take her away and reward her for good behavior and ignore naughty behavior- eventually she gives up.

I'm moving my girl in a few weeks and hope that she doesn't stress too much over it.

Yeah, I'm going to try as many baby steps as I can - get him to behave in the barn, then go out to the ring, but in the meantime I'm tempted to make some Percheron filet :(

My gelding and mare live exclusively together, in a24/7 in/out situation. He is convinced that he owns her actual soul, and literally comes between her and the fence if another horse is within 5 feet of it.
When I take her out he stands and either watches the arena, or the sand ring, or stands inside with his head over the gate WAITING. (its heart wrenching almost)

When I take him out she nickers a little bit, then basically gets on with her life lol.

If we were to introduce another gelding, my guy may or may not lose his shit. If it was another mare? It would be all good. Sometimes boys are like that I spose.
I think your guy will get over himself eventually (during the tacking up/riding situation) just don't acknowledge his lack of brain power and be very consistent ALL THE TIME. Just ride on through it! :D
