Flip flops for horses!

I think I posted earlier about my horse getting glue on shoes put on.

Now he has graduated to another shoe, which I had never heard of before the new farrier introduced them to Alph.
They are "flip flops", with only half a horse shoe and a pad that covers the heel but is not attached in the back, so it flips back and forth as he moves.

those look very interesting - would you mind sending me contact information for your farrier if you think he'd be willing to take on a new client? I board in Horseheads, NY (about 25 minutes south of Cornell). I remembered you being western NY, and found the glue on shoes video, where you mentioned it being a Cornell farrier. I currently use a very well-known farrier who I am unfortunately not happy with, and it looks like your farrier is doing wonders for Alph! Congrats on soundness and progress, it's always a great feeling.

Actually, I live in the Buffalo area and trailered him the four hours to Cornell when I couldn't take the dumbass farriers here anymore. If you are 25 minutes south why not just haul in to Cornell? If you have to work you could probably drop the horse off in the morning before and leave it in a stall for the day.

The farrier who I am now using in Buffalo is Ken Best, but he doesn't travel.

I would love to haul to Cornell but don't have a truck or trailer. I may try to contact the program to see if they have any recommendations.
Thanks for the response and posting this cool technique.

Nifty, thanks for posting this. I assume the second set of bell boots is for extra protection against overreaching?

Yep!
A farrier somewhere in our many travels suggested double bell boots so the top one can help keep the bottom one around the foot better. The bottom one is size L and the top is XL.
