Riding clothes for larger women - recommendation!

You may remember me posting a while back about my frustrating search for tall boots/half chaps that would fit large calves here. There were lots of great suggestions in the comments, but I was reluctant to spend a ton of money on items I couldn't try on and then have them not fit and have to send them back and order something else.

*smiles* i love them. i took a student of mine to the smartpak retail shop recently so she could try on half-chaps. she'd become so frustrated in previous shopping that she was convinced she'd take "extra-wide" in anything, but the nice fitting folks found her the perfect pair in "standard, wide, suede" (or something like that).

while i'm at it i might as well pimp "fuzzy logic equine" riding pants -- that student of mine takes a large, and the small fits me just about perfectly, in their ready-to-ride line (i take personal credit for bullying the designer into creating the nifty little cargo pockets, too). they also do very good custom work and i believe alterations, if you need a more-personalized fit.

:) a popular brand over here (fuller fillies). Cant believe theyre the only company to get it right though. And it continues to baffle me as to why companies like ariat cant offer even just one or two styles of half chaps in a larger size. theyre missing out on moneyz.

That's so funny! I skipped the Expo this year (thanks, economy!) but one of the women at my barn just said on Saturday that she was going to head over JUST to check out the Curvy Cowgirls booth. I'll have to see if she managed to find anything.

I saw them at the Expo too and found half-chaps that were great and actually fit! (short & wide chap size)
