US Army Caisson Platoon, Therapeutic Riding

The US Army's Caisson Platoon at Fort Myer, Virginia has a therapuetic riding program for injured soldiers and veterans. The Caisson horses are the ones you see photos of at Arlington National Cemetary, pulling the caskets. I can't give you advice but there is another program near me (not army run) at Chastain Horse Park. It's apparently part of a program called NARHA Horses for Heros program so maybe NARHA could help.

Maybe you could contact Fort Myer and ask them if one of the people who have gone though that program to come down and talk and share how much the program helped him and would be beneficial?

I agree wholeheartedly. Create a package of all the information you can gather on the Ft Myers program. If a rep can't fly out, maybe see if one could do a phone conference. I wish you the best of luck with this endeavor because I think this is one of the most wonderful programs I've ever heard of... Too bad that some of the old Cavalry guys aren't around because they would be all over this in an instant...

I was going to say try to talk to the people who set the program up for advice as well! The fact that one already exists in conjunction with the army is probably a good sign so I'd use the resources there to be convincing.
