Was curious if anyone knows if they are wild or belong to someone.
I can't help them other than bringing attention to them.

I'd pass this on to http://www.shilohhorserescue.com/ They do wonderful horse rescue work and are in NV near Vegas too. One of the members even posts to this comm sometimes.

Poor horses. Made my stomach clench.

With hay prices being so expensive I'm not surprised at people dumping horses. Doesn't make it any less horrible though. That pony definitely looks like he misses his person.

Happens here a lot. There has been more than a dozen cases of people taking their horses out to big state parks here, riding them out into the trails. Removing their tack and leaving them out there.

Wow. It would have taken an army (or my dad) to keep me from hand walking that horse into the next town. SRSLY.

no matter what their circumstances are, animal control needs to be involved- I mean they're wandering around, not fenced in, walking right up to cars, lost, wild or abandoned, it doesn't matter. To me it's pretty obvious that the authorities need to be made aware of this. Even if they are wild (which I really doubt) their attraction to humans and vehicles is risky.

Goddamn that makes me cry though. I need to run out and hug my pony. I can't imagine how anyone can leave such a sweet animal out there to fend for themselves.

The guy who left the craigslist ad did contact animal control and they told him that they were probably wild and to not bother them with it. Even though there isnt any sign of a freeze brand on them and their behaviour is the exact opposite of a wild animals. This is ongoing and I will post updates as I get more info.
