Absolutely no way to blow up a computer setting them up...most everything is color coded. It's hooking up the net that's a pain in the backside...if you are on broadband.
Well, as for hooking up to Comcast, she says it's all set to just plug in, no software or diddling around needed, and it will automatically recognize everything. I really didn't think it works that way here, but we shall find out ~ and my nephew-in-law knows all that stuff. He a real schmarty-pants. XD
As for being color-coded, the "new" one is very brightly so around the connections in the back of the tower... but the old one isn't. That's how old it is, hahaa.
I don't think my old connection cords are, either. All this is why I need my nephew-in-law.
BTW, I've heard that static electricity can fry the computer guts. Well, we have no humidity in this old house (the humidifier in the furnace went flooey years ago and was never repaired ~ thanks Mr Cheapskate) ~ so when I dug way under the tall, huge entertainment center that the computer is all intertwined and stuffed behind (another reason I need help), I felt a zap when I came close to touching the back of the tower.
That was enough for me to want to wait on this, hahaa.
