Writer Bio Brainstorming

Well bless my pink-tinted glasses, now I need a writer bio! I haven't been a sufficiently cocky writer-in-training to already have one prepared. And really, there's several trends one could follow in crafting such a thing. For example...

The Straightforward Approach (Short Form)

Reesa Brown is a writer living in Central Texas.

My inclination is to combine "mildly quirky" and "writer job list" somehow...

Thanks! Selling a short story has really provided a nice boost to my novel focus, hehe.

You can fly the freak-flag half-mast, as I tried to do in an acting bio I wrote for last year's FronteraFest program:

Jenni Bauer has been active in the Austin-area theater scene for the last five years. She played Theda in the world-premiere of the rock musical Chixxx From Hel, the Police Inspector and several other roles in the regional premiere of The Master and Margarita, Lotte in Lettice and Lovage, and Carol in Snapshots. Previous featured roles include Polly Pry in the third live production of Cannibal! The Musical and Lady Larken in Once Upon a Mattress. She has also performed in the film How to Pick Up Girls: A Guide for the Dating Impaired (featured at AGLIFF in 2004) and the radio-comedy series "The Dante Experience."

Jenni has ways of making software talk, and currently works for a startup which is developing an electronic medical record system. She would like to thank her husband Bill for his support, as well as her friends, lovers and unindicted co-conspirators.

Okay - so you are 20 years old and a college student and analyzing/doing research on this one author -- which one of your bio's do you want that student to find? You have memoir space to do the quirky ad nauseum -

I recommend you do a serious:

50 word
80 word
100 word

By all means include publishing credits and something which offers a shape for the person. What are you about?

I happen to think your "flying the freak flag high" one is the most interesting.
