Up

I just watched the Pixar flick "Up." Holy cow, I loved this movie! It's definitely sad in spots, but sweet and emotional and amusing. I hate to use the phrase "it had heart" but it really did. Pixar movies, somehow, manage to get pretty close to perfection ( Read more... )

I have to watch it, then. A 5 star rating from you is impressive.

I am sorry. I am here if you need/want.
Yay!

I love too many bad movies to be taken seriously but I loved this one.

Up was such a sweet movie. I loved all the characters.

What holiday is it this weekend? What is one thing that you need/want to do?

Same here. The whole thing was great but the characters made it.

It's Martin Luther King Jr. day here in the states.

I just have so many things that need to be cleaned, organized, recycled, taken out, brought in... that kind of stuff. Like the box of things that needs to go to charity, etc., etc. Stuff that turns invisible in the house and then one day you see it again and go, wow, that's still here.

How are you doing? Things going okay?

Ah, MLK day. It's cool that he has his own holiday. Some friends and I went to Memphis when I was in high school. I was impressed with the civil right museum which was built on the grounds of the hotel where he was shot. It was an excellent museum - very interactive.

Maybe you will feel cleansed after a good purge. I hope you can save one day for fun. Any plays in town?

I'm okay. I'm co-hosting a baby shower tomorrow. I should be fine, but maybe I'll have a glass of wine afterwards!

The civil rights museum was the one place in Memphis I really wanted to go to and didn't get to visit. Next time, I guess.

No plays around but I have library books! :)

Yay for wine. Seriously.

So it sounds like I should put that in my Netflix queque right after Fame, huh? Those'll be the only two things I have at this point. Maybe I should ask for recs? I'm gonna watch Hair one more time tonight after the bball game and then send it back, so my queque will be getting close to empty again.

And btw, thanks for talking to me even when you feel untalkative. I know how hard that is because I go through untalkative spells myself (I expect one will be coming up right after I have my surgery). Things will improve. You know January and February and the worst months of the year, so if we can just get through them...we'll be all right. ♥

If you want to. I'm kind of shocked you don't have a bunch of movies you've always wanted to see, or something...you could explore around. Try Before Sunrise and its Parisian sequel Before Sunset.

How was the Hair movie?

I am trying to keep in mind that it's at least partially the winter blues. It's not helping but I'll keep at it.

Haven't seen 'Up', but Pixar just makes great films, maybe because they're not trying to make "kid movies", but trying to make great animated films, period.

Also... THREE DAY WEEKEND!? Oh, you lucky employee.

Exactly. It's just good stuff, not kids' stuff.

Yes, very lucky, I know. We're finally getting some of our holidays back...it's nice.

To say that "Up had heart" is the perfect description, I think---I've found it hard to define, and that definitely covers it for me. :) It is such a beautiful little movie that definitely 'gets inside.' When I wasn't crying, I was laughing; it just had a way of hitting every emotion in just the right way.

And Dug and Kevin? Priceless!

You have made me want to watch it again. :)

Also, I know that feeling and that broken promise well, myself, so I hope that the weekend surprises you or you surprise the weekend---whichever works out for the best! :)

I was surprised by how much sadness the film had in it, but I think it had to in order to work. Dug and Kevin, yes, are awesome.
