2011

Last year rather than resolutions I did more like areas of focus. And I didn't focus very much at all.

I should maybe learn from that and take another approach this year, but I'm not, really. For 2011 my plan is to have something like a watch-word, which is:

AUSTERITYinspired by headlines earlier this year about nations instituting "austerity ( Read more... )

Wow.
I don't do anything like that. Sorry.

How are q-tips a want? I mean, deodorant and razors and soap are purchased before q-tips, but q-tips are a minor need.

Interesting. Why do you -need- to be tidy?

Finish what you start is an excellent motto. I would like that one.

Happy new year,my friend! I hope I didn't need to remind you to stand.

yeah, I don't do things like this either. it sounds prissy and extreme but in practice...not so much.

in the book they had some test or justification I don't remember. No one would die without Q-tips, right? Personally I consider them a need. But it could be a slippery slope...everything can be a "need" if you want it enough, can't it?

I need to be tidy in that having 2 weeks worth of dirty coffee mugs on my desk is disgusting and exposes to the world that I am a total slob.

Remind me to stand? I don't get it...

Yeah...

Um, if you smell or don't have proper hygiene as a result, it is a need.

I suppose.

Ah.

My great grandmother always said to stand when the old year passes and the new year comes in or you will be on your back for the next (and not in the good way. Apparently, specification is necessary these days).
So, please stand, for me, if nothing else, because it freaks me.

What an interesting tradition/superstition. I definitely will stand then!

Excellent idea! Good luck with that; I'm sure you'll make it (mostly) a success if you work at it! ;-)

Bravo! Happy New Year!

No one would die without Q-tips, right?

That should be a line in a new story!

Ha! So many possibilities too -- a Mcguyver type story or a medical type story... :)

I'm going with the need rather than want philosophy this year too!

Good luck! I am finding it challenging. Although I suppose changing one's ways always is.
