The passive tense.

OH MY GOD I use the word "was" so fucking much.

This is going to take forever.

Not to mention all the ones I can't figure out how to turn around or strengthen.

It's merely frustrating. Facing one's bad habits. Especially when their evidence is everywhere. I don't think I have ever spent this much time on revisions in my life. I hope it pays off.

Just hand me the thesaurus -- I'm going back in for the rest of them.

At least you don't use both the past and present tense in the same story. That's a favorite little trick of mine. :/

Best of luck to you.

Oh, that's the worst. When I do that I feel like I might as well give up. I'm fine just writing, but there's something about trying to switch tenses from past to present or vice versa that makes me all confused.

Wait, you need to distinguish between the "was"es you use in the past-tense, and the "was"es you use in the passive tense. I sense you are driving yourself crazy. Wish I'd been there to make you play on AIM instead. ;P

Wait, what? Huh? No wonder I'm confused. I guess the past tense ones are the ones I couldn't figure out how to fix. I swear this stuff makes me feel like a non-speaker of the language. In Kindergarden.

I am aware I am driving myself crazy though, and have stopped because it's not productive. I just need to do draft 3, add the scenes and stuff that needs adding, and stop.

You should talk to me about stuff.
