it's been 3 months of blah

And I'm very frustrated that the books I need to do my architecture model, which are oversized books that cannot be checked out, are not on the shelves where they ought to be. None of them. Mies van der Rohe has been eliminated from the stacks.

I'd ask a librarian except, this being finals, the line is inexhaustibly long. I hate the Rock.

My guess is that they actually might be checked out - grad students can check things out - or might be misshelved, on somebody's carrel. Do some snooping around on "A" Level and you might come up with some that way. If you can stand it, try looking for books in German - that'll at least help you on the diagrams, etc. front.

You can actually email or IM the reference librarians at the Rock, that'll help you avoid the lines. There's a thing about it on the library website. Big timesaver.

And yes, I know you might be hesitant because it's a little late in the semester, but there's always going to Professor Neumann. After all, he is a Mies expert, and besides the terrible grade I got on my model (advice: start the all-nighters ASAP, because even with several under my belt, I got in a time crunch at the end), he's a really nice guy.

I'm not sure if it will help, but fresh cookies will not only cheer up the librarians (after a long day of stupid questions, we love ourselves some cookies), but they'll be more motivated to giving you MORE THAN YOU EVER WANTED. Well, this works at my library. Not sure at Brown. Good luck though!
