Title: Turn on Your Love Light
Summary: There were many things Blaine loved about his boyfriend, including the way the corners of his eyelids scrunched up when he laughed really hard, and when he smiled with his teeth.
Author's notes: I have fluffy feelings ;~; This is set during the summer after Kurt's first year at college and Blaine's senior year of high school.
Blaine, I'm dumping you.
Blaine loved his boyfriend, was in love with him, and one of those reasons was that Kurt never failed to make him laugh, smile, and just love live all together. He'd been having a rather hard day, listening to his father tell him that he was making a mistake with the college he'd chosen to go to and that “that boy” was going to do nothing but ruin him, and Sebastian was still sending him text messages, trying to convince Blaine to hook up with the ex-Warbler. He'd deleted Sebastian's number from his phone, but it was still annoying to see those texts pop up, even after Blaine had actually snapped and said he would never do anything romantic with Sebastian because the guy was such a tool.
So, he'd left his half packed room and headed over to the Lima Bean, sitting at the table that he and Kurt had sat at so many times. He'd gotten his regular order, made himself comfortable, then pulled out the letter he'd received from Kurt earlier that day.
Blaine, I'm dumping you, had been the first line.
It's not you, it's me, had followed.
If someone had been reading over his shoulder and had only seen that line, one would have thought he was insane, because not even a second later Blaine had busted out laughing, clutching his sides as the letter and another piece of paper slid from his fingers. He was still laughing when he felt a tap on his shoulder. Looking up while wiping the tears from his face, he found himself looking at Sebastian, and his smile fell a bit. “Oh, hi.”
Sebastian gave him that grin, the one he used a lot when he thought he was being extra flirty. “Hello, there, Blaine. Fancy seeing you here.”
Blaine could hear the snark of the Kurt he'd created in his head, who was saying, yes, but that's because you stalked his schedule, you predator.
“I guess so,” he said, taking the letter and folding it up, as if to hide something that was making his day better (to savor it) from something that would probably ruin it. “What are you doing here?”
Sebastian shrugged and sat down across the table from Blaine, stretching out and trying to make himself seem more interesting. “Got off of work, was pretty tired, and then thought getting some coffee would be a good idea. What about you?”
“I came here to be alone,” he said, hoping that Sebastian would finally get the hint and leave him alone.
Apparently, though, he was wrong. “So, your boyfriend broke up with you?”
Blinking, Blaine stared at him for a second. “What makes you say that?”
Sebastian pointed at the paper Blaine was holding in his hands. “I saw the first line of your letter and-”
Well, that made Blaine rather mad. “You were reading over my shoulder? Reading something that was private?”
Sebastian shrugged, like what he'd done hadn't been offensive at all. “I just saw it, didn't think it would be a problem.”
Blaine really didn't know what to do with the guy. He'd flat out told him that no, he wasn't interested in cheating on Kurt, no, they would not do a threesome with him (because, ew), and no, he wouldn't break up with Kurt to be a one night stand in Sebastian's long line of one night stands. Kurt was it for Blaine, and they'd survived a year of long distance, a few fights, and laid-over flights. So, why did Sebastian think that anything he did could make Blaine leave Kurt? Sebastian wasn't appealing to him, if he had to be blunt and somewhat shallow. “Listen, Sebastian-”
“Well, since you're now single, why don't you and I head over to Scandals tonight? Work off some of the anger and sadness I know you're probably feeling right about now?”
Okay, that was enough. “Sebastian, I'm not single.”
Sebastian's attempt at a flirty smile seemed to falter. “Oh?” he asked, trying to play at coy.
“Kurt didn't break up with me. We're still very much together.”
At this, Sebastian's smile did fall. “But the letter-”
Blaine unfolded the letter and took the other piece of paper out. The other piece of paper had been a picture of Kurt. Kurt, who was holding up a skull in his hands and pursing his lips out towards the skull in an exaggerated attempt at a kissing face. Kurt was wearing a bandana wrapped around his head and sunglasses, but with the way the lighting was on the picture, he could easily make out the way Kurt's eyes were scrunched closed. Hello from China had been written on the bottom of the picture. Blaine smiled down lovingly at the picture before he flipped it around and showed it to Sebastian.
The line after the first sentence in the letter read:
I've found my eternal soulmate here in China, as you can tell by the picture I've enclosed. I hope that there are no hard feelings between us.
“Kurt's on an archeological dig in China right now,” Blaine explained, his voice growing warm as he spoke about his boyfriend. “And he was just telling me that he'd found his soulmate there, in a hole in the ground. I'm going to be the best man at the wedding, so he thought I should know.”
Sebastian frowned - a rather big one, Blaine had to think - but sighed. “Okay, okay,” he said, picking up his coffee as he stood up. “Bye, Blaine.”
Blaine inclined his head at him, but as soon as he was gone he looked back down at his letter to continue reading what his boyfriend had to say.
And while I have very much enjoyed China, I do have to say that it's great to finally be home. I have so many things I want to tell you-
But he couldn't read beyond that, because it's great to finally be home? Kurt wasn't supposed to be home for another three weeks...
A pair of hands slipped over his eyes and the smile that appeared on his face was blinding. “Hi,” he whispered, tilting his head up and pressing up, into the hands. “Why are you back early?”
A kiss was pressed to the top of his head and then the hands were removed. He opened his eyes just in time to see Kurt slipping into the seat Sebastian had previously been sitting in and just stared at him. Kurt was tanner than he'd been before he'd gone to China, but the glow that was surrounding him didn't seem to be from the tan. “There was nothing left to really dig up,” he said as he messed around in his bag, looking for something.
“Not that I'm complaining, because seeing you is amazing, but I'm sorry - I know that you were really having fun.”
Kurt hummed, and then glanced up from his position bent half over. “I have someone I want you to meet.”
“Oh?” Well, Blaine was very intrigued now.
Kurt nodded, then pulled his hands out from his bag. In his hands was a replica of the skull he'd been pretending to kiss in the picture. “This is Ling, my second husband,” he said as he put the skull in the middle of the table. “I'm sorry you missed the wedding. It was a rather quick ceremony, though, so you didn't miss much. And his wedding vows were horrible.”
Blaine laughed, reaching forward with his right hand to take Kurt's. “God, I missed you so much.” But then he tilted his head to the left. “Your second husband?”
Kurt nodded, rolling his eyes playfully. “Well, he knows that he's second to you, anyway,” Kurt said easily.
Blaine melted inside. Husband, he thought to himself. Calling Kurt (and being called by him) husband sounded amazing. He was going to say something to add more to he conversation when Kurt's stomach let out a rather large growl. Kurt flushed, glancing down sheepishly at his stomach.
“I kind of made a mad dash here from the air-port. Your mom had told me you'd come here the moment I landed.”
Blaine grinned at him, then took Kurt's hand and pulled him up from his seat as Blaine himself rose. Kurt pulled bag for a second to put Ling back in his bag, pull his bag over his shoulder; then he took Blaine's hand again. “You didn't go home to see your family?”
Kurt shifted his hand in Blaine's and laced their fingers together. “I dropped my stuff off, but they knew that I needed to see you first, before we got down to talking all about China,” he said.
The love Blaine had for Kurt was unfathomable. “I'm glad you had that need,” he whispered as he walked them both out of the Lima Bean. “I really needed my Kurt quota filled for the day.”
Kurt raised an eyebrow at him. “You have a Kurt quota?”
“That I do, and right now, I feel the need-” he leaned forward and pressed a kiss to Kurt's lips. “To take my boyfriend-” another kiss “out to eat. What do you say?”
Kurt grinned at him and fixed the strap of his bag. “I say that's a great idea. I have a Blaine quota I need to have filled. And it's quite the big one.”
“I've got my work cut out for me, don't I?”
Kurt nodded, then leaned in and kissed him tenderly. “Hmm,” he hummed as he pulled away. “I missed you, so much.”
“I missed you too.”
They stood next to Blaine's car for a moment, just looking at each other, until Kurt's stomach decided to voice its need to be filled. Laughing, Blaine reluctantly pulled away and unlocked the car. “Italian?”
Kurt shook his head. “I can't believe I'm saying this,” he said as he climbed into the car from the passenger side, “but I really want a burger.”
Blaine raised his eyebrow at that statement. “Kurt Hummel wants a hamburger?”
Kurt grinned. “Don't judge. I just feel the need to have one. Drive, Anderson!”
There were many things Blaine loved about his boyfriend, including the way the corners of his eyelids scrunched up when he laughed really hard, and when he smiled with his teeth. He loved how Kurt liked to sneak kisses during movies and hold hands when they walked down the road together after a date. But what he loved most was how bright Kurt made the world seem. So, laughing, Blaine drove Kurt to the nearest burger joint, his heart filled with love.
God, it's a beautiful day.
