Firebugs, pryos, firestarters. Regardless of the label, a pyrokinetic is a psychic who can command fire.
It is a very rare and dangerous talent, both for those around the pyrokinetic and for the psychic himself. Most pyrokinetics eventually die when their own power gets away from them. Spontaneous human combustion without the spontaneity.
The theory is that a pyrokinetic's aura protects him from his own fire. Also in theory, if someone else gets inside that aura, they will be protected by it as well. This is small help when the aura will only extend a few inches away from the pyro's body. If the pyro's determined, he may burn you to a crisp, leaving only your hands that were inside the aura.
When things are working right for the pyro, he can bathe in flames and not burn and walk through a building shedding fire like a sprinkler.
A pyrokinetic's fire is capable of melting objects meant to be highly fire resistant if it's properly focused. Recorded instances of melting objects rated to resist up to 6000 degree temperatures are on the books.
Losing Control: There are visual cues when a pyrokinetic loses control of the power. "Normal" fire for a pyro will be blue and will be under the pyschic's control. When the pyro loses control, it will turn to a standard yellow-orange color and start to consume the pyro from within.
The only hope of saving the psychic at that point is to knock him out, as his power will be knocked out with him. Trying to simply extinguish him while he's conscious won't work, because the source of the fire is inside.
