I love the fake relationship trope, and I loved very many things about this story - but I stopped reading partway through because the incredible lack of communication got to me.

When the entire plot of an angst-filled epic rests on incredibly unnecessary misunderstandings due to a level of non-communication and emotional blindness normally only found in earthworms, it tends to wear me down until I am too damn annoyed to read on. ;-)

However, I've been meaning to pick this fic up again forever, because I really did like many things about it. It's not encouraging to hear that the problem persists, but to be honest I'd expected it to.

Thanks for the rec! :-)

I strongly suspect the authors were trying to stall for time, to drag the angst out until a certain point in the season, rather than a logical point in the relationship. (Namely because their reasons for not communicating toward the end felt more like cowardice than anything with actual reasons.)

But if you wanna skip to the dramatic reveal of feeeelings, go to the halfway point of Chapter 6 (Part 5). The first half of the chapter is mostly just them fighting and everyone telling them to just talk to each other already, so nothing you can't scroll past. If they're already having sex, you just missed it, so scroll up until they're having an argument about Sharpy and Erica.
