The more I consider this ep, the more I'm unsure about it. I loved X-File's Fire and Ice eps, of which this was basically a variant. The difference is in those eps, the people trapped with Mulder&Scully were strangers so their deaths merely upped the ante for the story. SPN, otoh, killed its own people - I care more therefore, but it took me out of the story itself because it imposed longer reaching consequences.
I did like that we got some background about Rufus and Bobby
That should have been the first warning that Rufus was toast. :( But yeah, he and Bobby working the case like partners again was awesome.
I have high hopes for the next episode since I hated the preview once again. *crosses fingers*I was confused last week by the preview and didn't know what to expect. I kind of thought the preview this week was a mashup of scenes from multiple eps to come. It wasn't

I think this episode suffers the more you think about it. I enjoyed watching it the first time through without all of that messy thought process:) The previous one just bugged me too much for me to enjoy at all.
I don't remember the X-Files episode you mentioned, though I probably saw it.
The preview was some odd jumbled up mix of scenes that made this week's episode look like it was going to be an SPN version of SAW (which I detest just on principle).
