She was always happy when they pulled into Bobby Singer's driveway. Her children would drive up to meet them, beeping and purring with news. And Bobby always had the best gasoline blend saved up especially for her. Now, she looked forward to their visit for another reason, hopefully this time Bobby would have something that could save her Dean.
If not, well, it was nearly time for her to take matters into her own wheels, so to speak.
When they pulled up and Dean eased her gears into rest, two of her children swerved into view. She expected three. Dean had thrown a fit when he found that Bobby had let Janis, her oldest carling, go off with Jo Harvelle.
"Damnit, Dean, she needs the extra help, hunting on her own like that!"
"Bobby you promised I'd have the last say on any hunter you gave a carling to!"
"Well, Dean, it's not like we don't know Jo," Sam had interjected.
Dean had whirled on his brother. "The babies are barely weaned! They're far too young to go off on their own!"
"Oh my God, not this again."
But although she understood and often shared Dean's concern, part of being a parent was understanding that your children would one day leave you. She tried to explain this to Dean later as he cuddled inside her, her stereo playing some of his more comforting Metallica tunes. Besides, she knew Janis would take good care of Jo, if anyone needed a keeper, that girl sure did.
That didn't explain where exactly Bruce had gotten off to. Grace and Jimi, the children who shared her exterior paint color, were the only two to come greet them. She honked at them both, asking where her youngest carling had gone. Bruce was a free spirit; he tended to go off into the most embarrassing scrapes.
When Grace wondered why Bruce hadn't come with them, she just knew something was wrong. She alerted Dean as quickly as possible, who ran out of the car to meet up with Bobby coming rapidly out of his home. Sam slipped out of the passenger seat to follow.
"Bobby, where the hell is Bruce? Grace says he went looking for me?"
Bobby shook his head and tore off his hat. "It happened when I was off on that dang hunt."
"Bobby, what the hell happened?" Dean snapped.
She said she would take Bruce to you, Grace explained, but the carlings knew as well as she did that only Dean could understand them.
Fortunately Bobby explained. "It was Bela. She stole Bruce."
"Son of a bitch!" Dean snapped.
She revved her engine, and threw herself into gear. Nobody took one of her children away like that. It was bad enough that she had hurt Dean. This time, that bitch would die.
