Ficlet: Through the Wormhole (gen, Supernatural/Stargate SG-1 xover)

Summary: Coda for SPN 3.11.
“Unscheduled wormhole activation!”
Col. Cameron Mitchell stepped up his walk and slid into the gate control room just as General Landry gave the order to close the iris.
“I can’t sir, something is blocking the command.” Sgt. Harriman said apologetically.
“What is it this time?” Cam wondered.
“We’ll find out in a moment. Walter, get the defense teams out there.”
The defense teams assembled, lining the plank before the Stargate, weapons ready to defend the SGC against whatever came through that gate. In the past that could mean anything from enemy soldiers with live rounds, to alternate versions of members of the SGC themselves.
Cam watched as the event horizon coalesced and stabilized. Everyone held their breath waiting. No one could have predicted the older man who tumbled out of the gate and rolled down the ramp to come to a heap at the bottom of the gateroom floor.
“What the hell?” Cam jogged out of the control room and down to the gate room.
The man coughed and slowly sat up.
“Who are you?” Cam asked, confident the defense teams would back him up.
The man looked up and his eyes widened. “Didn’t I just…? Is your name John?”
“Ah, no,” Cam said. “I’m Col. Cameron Mitchell of the United States Airforce. Identify yourself!”
The guy held up his hands in surrender. “I’m Dexter Hasselback. I run a website!” He turned and looked at the Stargate, just as the wormhole winked out. “Was that a wormhole?” he gaped.
Cam rolled his eyes. Not again. And of course Carter was off on Atlantis. He wondered if he could bribe Jackson to take this one. Then again, it was always fun seeing the civies react to Teal’c. This might not have been quite what Cam had in mind when he signed up for SG-1, but hell, at least the job was never boring.
