NJ event thingy

Anyone else going? I was planning to go to the con with my RL friend (who's also a Buffy fan), so I just emailed her to see if she was interested in James' private party thinger. If so, we'll probably just do that and not bother with the con. I will, of course, pout that he's not doing a cheaper gig like at most cons, but we were going to pay $120 ( Read more... )

I was thinking about it! I'm probably more likely to go to the con than the private dinner (ughhhh I'm not willing to throw away $200 right now). I'm not a fan of the Q&As anyway, I just want a picture. LOL!

Heh, I'm the opposite. I don't care so much about the picture - I'd rather see a Q&A, but mostly I go for the music, which is why I'm disappointed there's no "gig only" option this time. I tend to skip the rest of the events and just do the gig (makes things much cheaper).

Hmm I'm trying to decide if I should reserve a spot and then wait and see. lol

I think that's what I'm going to do.

Mostly, I feel like I shouldn't pass it up, because when is he ever going to do another even that's practically in my parents' backyard? The only way it'd be more convenient is if James scheduled his next appearance in my apartment (note to Steve Himber: I am willing to talk rates).

Yeah, I was thinking about Dragon*Con until this came along. Like I said to Sevvy, it's hard to pass up - no airfare and no hotel costs will probably make it way cheaper than D*C, even if it's one of the high-priced private events.

Heh, you do realize I've never actually paid more than $25 for an event, right? So when I say high-priced, it's all relative. :) I'm incredibly cheap when it comes to fandom.

Hey E,

I was planning on going, but I just came home to this in my e-mail:

MONSTER MANIA PARTY UPDATE

As many of you may have seen, the organizer of Monster Mania has posted a disclaimer regarding the private party that Himber Ent. is organizing on behalf of James for his scheduled weekend there. Until this matter is resolved satisfactorily, we will be holding off on the reservation process. Once matters have been cleared up, we will again give advanced notice for reservations. Sorry for this inconvenience.

I would strongly suggest that anyone making plans to attend Monster Mania solely because of James' scheduled appearance take a beat until we confirm all details.

Again, thank you for your patience and understanding.

Steve Himber

I tried going onto the Monster Mania site to find said disclaimer, but I didn't see anything. I'm not sure what's going on, but if you do plan on going )and the whole thing's not canceled :-P) you should keep an eye out on the James site.

Yeah, I saw that email, too. This mysterious disclaimer that I can't find intrigues me, lol.

The good thing (for me) is that this event requires no real planning on my part, other than buying the tickets - no need to reserve a hotel or airfare, so if it's canceled, I'm not out anything except a weekend with my parents. :) Although if it is canceled, I will have to assume that James has something against New Jersey and/or me personally, since this will be the second event I planned to go to that's been canceled. :-P
