I'm actually glad for you that he hasn't died yet. When my g-ma Jorgensen first went into the hospital, they said 24-48 hrs. She kept on for another 2-3 years. One thing which hospice did with my dad (offered, and we accepted) was to get him on video talking about different parts of his life, memories, thoughts, etc. It's really cool. (which reminds me that I need to get them transferred from VHS to DVD...)

But it wouldn't surprise me if Grampa Tony hung on for 2 or 3 years like your g-ma; he's pretty tough. I actually do hope that's the case...but it seems unlikely.
He's kept sedated at this point--awake, he's actually slightly combative--so I don't know that I'll get a chance to talk to him unless he has some miraculous recovery. But if it's an option, maybe he'll make one of those videos.
