Why does an usher usher people? Shouldn't they just ush people? Wouldn't someone who ushers be an usherer?

Gwen thought the exact same thing.

We had Chris' brother & partner be ushers at the wedding. Gwen said, "Mommy, why do John and Eric have to be usherers?"

Well, it makes sense our way; the official usage seems to ignore the rules we were all taught in school, and nobody bats an eye!

I swear, sometimes I think my entire point of existence on this planet is to point out all the shit humans take for granted!
