Agents of SHIELD - Afterlife

Finally! It's been a rough few episodes, but at last one I REALLY LOVE from the show.

There's a lot of meat on the bone that I really want to get into here. ( spoilers, obvsly )

the whole episode, I was like, 'Ugh, "back up" is gonna be Ward, isn't it?'

Ugh, me too. Such a surprise to see Mike, all jazzed up and non-lethal and unstoppable. I hope he's around for a while. Forever!

Jiaying! SO EXCITE TO SEE HER!! I want to know more about her, but I am so pleased that the character wasn't written just to get sliced up by fake Nazis. And you're so right - Dichen Lachman had this edge of menace to everything she did.

I was totally onboard with SHIELD factions until they turned out to be complete flops with no plan. For serious, what a waste of some awesome acting chops. So cranky about that. Like May was going to buy into that deal.

This show is so weird and rocky. But the good stuff is so good!!

Yes, Mike forever!

I love how much Mo loves to write for Dichen. Hopefully we get to see some Belonging-level stuff from her as the season progresses!

I KNOW!!!!! SHIELDlite was so exciting a concept, and then, wow, it really fizzled in execution. And I really feel like they did a bit of character assassination on Agent Weaver to get there, too. A huge disappointment since she is one of so few women of color in the MCU. (Let's not talk about how Gonzales & Sitwell are the only significant Latinx characters...)

I agree, but then, on good episodes like this, I almost feel like the rocky stuff that annoyed me in the past actually enriched and informed the storylines that I like? Like, I sort of glossed over my Fitzsimmons issues in this post, but that's a really solid example -- I hated how Fitz treated Jemma in S1 of the show, but that changed and I hated how he treated Jemma in the first half of S2 even more, which makes it all the sweeter that he has maybe learned his lesson?! (Maybe I speak too soon.) And I've really ( ... )

I'm so happy this is going in a better direction right now. i hope the last few episodes are just as good.

I don't really need much May back story either, but oh well! hopefully there will be lots of fun other non-ward stuff.

LOL! "Anything as long as it's not Ward!" -- says 85% of the fandom.

I loved this episode a lot a lot.

it seems like a really bad time for a flashback episode when the plot has finally kicked up a notch. I don't want the pacing to slow down!

Same. I always want more May, but why get into her backstory now? It feels like something they should have done early in the season. I hope it doesn't throw off the momentum.

Do you happen to know if Blair Underwood will be in the next episode? That, at least, would be something to look forward to!

I haven't heard anything about Underwood returning this season. But I agree, he is forward-looking-worthy. :D

JIAYING!!!!!!!!!!!! I had a creeping suspicion all along that she wasn't really dead;

I had NO SUSPICION and almost screamed when she showed up.

nd I think Skye needs that lightness & optimism in her life right now.

Agreed!

Haha, I know that Jed & Mo looooove Dichen, & it would've been an awfully small part to bring her in for if she really had been killed off already! Plus, they've been killing off a lot of people the past 2 seasons & I knew they couldn't all stay dead! XD
