I have a phone interview for a job tomorrow morning and, tonight I've been doing some prep work for it. The company and the position have a certain amount of overlap with both of my last two jobs, and in the course of reviewing their activities in the power generation industry, it occurred to me that I haven't checked on the progress of the big ( Read more... )

This seems to be the SOP for businesses these days. Several of the companies I've contracted with, some Fortune 500 others more modest, have made significant cuts into what already were 'slim' and 'flat' organizational structures. Cutting at this point into the very 'meat' of their ability to produce or control their companies. In a great many cases what also happened was a process of 'sanitizing' all of their documents to expunge the work of former employees. After all, who wants someone who no longer works for you to get credit or for anyone to realize that you've cut out your productive work force. It kind of reminds me of Michael Keaton's character in Mr. Mom.
Good luck in your interview.

we had a huge discussion about (similar to) this and people in general now a days at BM. the main foucus was "accountability" and "selfishness" people just don't give a shit anymore, and it's disheartening.
i am so sorry this has happened.

good luck with your interview. knock thier socks off!

This is why I document everything in email form. Then, I can send it to another email account to document the actual work I have done.

It really sucks to have to do that, but nowadays, you can't trust people or companies.

I am so sorry this happened to you and I wish you the best on your interview.

The last game company that i worked at did the same crap to me. Nowhere is my name to be seen in their credits, but i should, probably, be grateful. It was a crap company and an even worse game.

As for you, sorry to hear it, but best of luck with the interview and subsequent second and third interviews. :)
