So, I'm going to China for this conference, right?

I am supposed to appear in Beijing on 25 July, and disappear from Beijing on or shortly after 31 July. Because of the bureaucratic/nationalistic crap I mentioned here, I just got confirmation that I'll be able to go yesterday. I would think that if my car gets stolen from airport parking, the parking supervisors are liable. Of course, Los Angeles is a strange world.

Yeah, we always have to use the US carriers too. Which is stupid, because usually you wind up on a "partnership" airline anyways. Sometimes the same one I'll bet you'd have gotten by the cheaper option.

Probably can blame this on some lobbyists.

I agree also on the European airline qualtiy. Just had an hour flight on a Swiss airline. They had magazines, served drinks and tea (they used liter bottles to be more efficient with the soft drinks), gave me a big soft pretzel, and a bar of chocolate (they're Swiss after all). That's for an hour flight. In the US, you're lucky to get a bag of peanuts and a glass half full of ice with some trace amounts of the fluid you asked for in it.

The funny thing is in the US service is usually better than in Europe in my experience. The airline thing is weird.
