Guess one of the traits Sokka still has. If you guessed an insatiable appetite, you just won the jackpot! Congratulations. You are now the proud owner of a boomerang and several million messenger hawks. Anyway, back on task here.
This kitchen is weird. What the hell's those things lining the walls? What's that weird smell? ...Oh, jeez. Hi, Zuko. What are you doing? Burning down the mansion, you say? Can Sokka help you out with that?
"What are you doing? Making tea? Because it smells like something's burning."
Is tea supposed to smell like that? Sokka has a feeling it probably didn't.
Katara really has no reason to be here in the kitchen, except that she had nothing better to do but follow Sokka around. And it just happened that the kitchen was her brother's first stop.
But apparently they weren't the only ones who needed the kitchen. Zuko was there as well, trying and failing to make tea. "Do you even know how to use one of those?" Katara's not sure she would either, but she'd at least ask someone before poking around and making things burn.
But this is Zuko they're dealing with, and making things burn is kind of his specialty.
"Uh, Sokka?" Katara glances skeptically at her brother. Turning all of them on, when they don't really know what will happen does not sound like a good idea.
"I think we should find someone who can actually use these. I don't want to get blown up or lit on fire." Now Zuko's on the receiving end of a dubious glance from Katara.
Okay, turn them all on. He can do that, but Katara's just glaring at him. No, they'll be fine. This is the chance he has to prove that he can be trusted not to blow them up, right?
"We'll be fine."
Zuko didn't listen to Aang when he told him to not touch the magical egg, and he isn't gonna listen to Katara when she tells him not to touch the magical stove. Absolutely nothing happens again. Now he's a bit irritated.
Although, to be honest, Zuko doesn't exactly have the best track record. Sokka doesn't exactly understand how stoves work, though. He's just giving the object a long look before continuing.
"It still looks like Zuko's messing up, though. Is there anything else you can push?"
"Wet blanket?" Katara puts her hands on her hips, very clearly annoyed by that comment. "Who said I was? Excuse me for wanting to not be blown up." And with that, she moves over to the exit, as far away as she can get without actually leaving the room.
She's just going to watch them from a distance. That way, she can stay and watch while being able to leave quickly when something bad happens.
He looks up at Katara, "It won't blow up. Even if it does, I can redirect the flames." No harm no foul, right? He's a firebender. Zuko has been seen breaking apart some of his sister's fires with his bare hands. He figures he can do the same here if worst comes to worst. He also knows the mansion repairs itself, so whatev.
Any other buttons? He looks around, and finds nothing. Zuko shakes his head at Sokka.
"I don't get it. There isn't even anything to burn."
"Hey, I never said I wanted to be blown up! I just think we should probably figure out this thing!" Sokka's just gonna flail his hands at Katara's direction. At least there's always going to be the constant of them arguing, right?
Sokka's attention is back to Zuko after he mentions finding nothing.
"I don't, either. Shouldn't something be happening by now? Or maybe it just takes a while? For some reason, I had the impression stuff here worked faster."
"Well, what do you think's going to happen if you turn all of them on?" Katara's not yelling, not yet, but she does sound pretty annoyed at Sokka's and Zuko's foolishness. "There's got to be another way to make tea besides fiddling with something we've never seem before."
She glares at Sokka as he turns his attention back to Zuko. If they're set on blowing themselves up, she'll have nothing to do with it.
Zuko's frusterated. Maybe it is a good idea to ask someone, not because he's afraid of an explosion, mind you. It's just out of sheer impatience. Fiddling with the thing is likely going to take much longer than asking someone what's up. He's irritated by this goddamn magic thing, "Nothing works right in this place."
He looks towards Katara, anger at the stove's refusal to work in his voice, "I'm gonna go ask someone how to fix it. I'll be right back."
Right. While Zuko's doing that, Sokka's just gonna walk closer to the stove. He doesn't consider the thing magical, to be honest. Maybe it was like his communicator and electricity-powered?
"Yeah, Zuko broke it. Maybe we should turn it off?"
That weird smell may or may not be getting to him. You know how Sokka lacks tact sometimes? This is one of those wonderful times.
"Ugh! I just knew this would happen!" Well, all right, she really didn't, but all the same, Katara's just annoyed. Very, very annoyed.
She walks back over to the stove, while Sokka's just talking and asking questions instead of actually doing anything, and she reaches over and turns one of the dials, hoping she's actually turning it off and not turning it up higher.

Maybe..he turned the wrong dial. He tries a different one. Again nothing happens. How dissappointing.
"Yeah, and..I..uh saw someone use it. They just turned that thing. It looked easy enough."
He answers the pair behind him and points at the dial. God, he must look like such a dumbass right now, or..more of a dumbass than usual.

Sokka casts a glance at Katara before speaking again. He sounds as skeptical as he looks.
"Maybe you should turn them all on?"
Electricity. How does it work?
